Konfederasi Sepak Bola Asia (AFC) telah mengonfirmasi Asosiasi Sepak Bola Qatar dan Federasi Sepak Bola Arab Saudi sebagai Asosiasi Anggota Tuan Rumah untuk Kualifikasi Asia AFC mendatang – Playoff Road to 26,” tulis AFC.
Seperti yang diketahui, ronde keempat bakal digelar pada Oktober 2025.
Ronde keempat bakal diikuti enam negara.
Mereka adalah Timnas Indonesia, Irak, Oman, Qatar, Arab Saudi, dan Uni Emirat Arab.
Mereka bakal memperebutkan dua tiket otomatis terakhir ke Piala Dunia 2026.
Mereka akan dibagi dalam dua grup terpisah yang berisi tiga negara.
Hanya juara grup yang berhak melaju ke putaran final.
Sementara runner-up bakal kembali bertarung ke ronde kelima.
Ronde kelima sendiri bakal digelar pada 13 dan 18 November 2025.

“Selanjutnya, runner-up dari setiap grup akan saling berhadapan dalam AFC Asian Qualifiers™ – Road to 26 Playoffs Knockout Stage yang diselenggarakan pada tanggal 13 dan 18 November 2025, dengan pemenangnya akan melaju ke Turnamen Play-off FIFA,” lanjutnya.
Pengundian dijadwalkan akan diadakan pada tanggal 17 Juli 2025.
Keputusan AFC ini tentu menepis protes dari sejumlah peserta ronde keempat lainnya.
Tercatat sudah ada tiga negara yang mengirim surat protes resmi.
Ketiganya adalah Irak, Uni Emirat Arab, dan Oman.
Mereka menuntut transparansi AFC dalam pemilihan tuan rumah.
Tentu, keputusan ini memukul Irak dan Uni Emirat Arab.
